nocturnes

the photographs in nocturnes formed my first significant body of work, which began as a question about the nature of scenic places after dark. what came from this was a new way to see familiar landscapes and embrace a sense of discovery that was disappearing as the 21st century took shape. the decision to print the works as platinum/palladium prints marked a turning point in my work during the 1990s, presenting physical prints that mirror the nuanced way human eyes experience darkness.

the work in nocturnes are all platinum/palladium prints made between 1998 and 2012, using 8”x10” and 16”x20” cameras. each image is printed in an edition of 10 numbered prints, and two artist proofs.
